Formats and Technical Elements

Benidorm

Benidorm is a single camera television series. when watching Benidorm i can tell that they only use one camera because of the amount of detail caught on the camera, I can also tell this because the shots are very creative, for example if they used more than one camera we wouldn't get as much detail and the shots wouldn't be as creative. I can also tell that they are only using one camera as the family who go on this holiday are in many different places, like the pool and back at the hotel, so if they used multiple cameras then it would be hard to film all of these locations at once, however because they are using one camera they can film these locations and then put them together when editing, this can also mean they can do more series.
Benidorm is a comedy series which got brought out in 2007. We know this is a series because you can watch one series and get whats going on, this is because benidorm has a story line in each series there for you don't have to watch every single one to get what is going on. When you watch Benidorm you get the story line in that one series, so instead of gradually finding out different stories without having to watch every benidorm series you can just watch one and something in garnered to happen that series, however this story doesn't carry on through the next couple of series. we can tell that Benidorm is in the comedy genre because it is humours to watch and entertaining.

The lighting in Benidorm is quite bright all the way through and stays at pretty natural lighting, But because this is set in a sunny place the lighting need to look bright and warm.
The lighting in Benidorm is quite light and warm, this creates a happy mood, Also because this is a happy tv series and not a sad one they don't make the series dark because if they did it may not come across as happy, and may come across as dull and sad.
When it's night time in the tv series benidorm they have lots of lights surrounding them to make the set look like a club, The lighting still looks happy, however there is a lot more people around so things look a lot more busy.

There are lots of different sounds used in benidorm, for example there is a lot of different music tracks brought in the editing process (non diagetic sound). these tracks are happy, because this is a comedy they never use sad music tracks as it wouldn't fit the genre so by using happy tacks this makes the mood seem happy and uplifting. If you had a genre which was horror you would have a lot darker lighting and lots of use of shadows to create tension, and you would have slow and creepy music.
There is lots of slow cuts in bedidorm which makes the mood calm and they also use slow cuts beacause if they do this, the audience doesn't miss anything, however if you had an genre action then using fast cuts makes the clip seem tense.

Benidorm is written on an episode basis, we know this because There is one every week at 9pm for seven weeks, we also know this because Benidorm has a story each time played, so you can watch one and not have to watch the rest as there is a story in each one instead of them all linking together.

this genre is comedy, i think this fits into its genre because the series are funny, they have funny music playing/happy and the colours are bright which show this isn't depressing and sad, instead this addresses to the audience it is going to be happy and humorous.
